Charleston Cycling Classic Race Info

general info

The Charleston Cycling Classic will be sanctioned by USA Cycling, under event permit number 2018-583. In order to compete, you must hold a valid racing license or purchase two one-day licenses, which will be applicable toward the cost of an annual license (no risk!).

Click on the links below to preview the courses on RidewithGPS.com. The courses for the road race have been marked designating which fields will ride which routes. This is a bicycle race in the Mountain State of West Virginia, so all fields will encounter some hills. The longer the distance, the more challenging the hills will be!

All fields will ride the same time trial course. There will be 30 second start gaps, and 1:00 gaps between fields. The criterium course will be the same for all racers, with fields racing for shorter or longer times as follows (these times are approximate, the race will actually be a set number of laps):

  • M5, MMasters60+, W4 : 15 min
  • M4/5, MMasters50+, WMasters : 20 min
  • M3/4, W1/2/3 : 30 min
  • M1/2/3 : 45 min

The total prize purse for the Charleston Cycling Classic will be in excess of $12,000! Women's fields will take home the same amount of money as the men's corresponding field - come on out to race, ladies! Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each race and to the top five finishers overall in each field. Overall winners will also receive a custom race jersey in addition to prize money and bragging rights for the next calendar year.

*If race fields are too small, classes and prize money will be combined into one category.

Each participant will receive a swag bag full of great gear from the Charleston Cycling Classic and our sponsors. Included will be a race t-shirt, a custom Charleston Cycling Classic Specialized Purist ™ water bottle, a meal ticket from Ridge View BBQ for the post-race party Sunday afternoon, and more.
